The GPSC Basketball Committee organizes and manages Campout.
Any interested graduate or professional student is welcome and encouraged to join (you do not need to be a GPSC representative). To join the Committee, simply subscribe to the Basketball Committee listserve (details below).
The full Committee meets weekly (or twice weekly, if needed) from fall orientation through the week prior to Campout. Meetings are announced through emails to the Basketball Committee listserve.
Much of the organization of Campout is completed by subcommittees. Subcommittees meet as necessary and always need lots of volunteers. The subcommittee chairs solicit volunteers via the listserve and in full committee meetings (during the fall). Many subcommittees work during the summer, so you can get involved today!

Ticket Qualifications:
Registration (campout.reg2008@gmail.com)
- Organizes Campout registration (online, September 8 - September 12, 2008)
- Manages line checkers
Exemptions
- Collects and reviews exemption applications, for those who have a conflict with a portion of campout
- Visit the exemptions site for more details. (coming soon)
Lottery
- Runs the basketball ticket lottery
- An explanation of the lottery
Community Service and Relations:
Publicity
- Publicizes Campout through orientations, activity fairs, and flyers
Community Service
- Coordinates canned food drive at Campout sign-in
- Arranges Saturday morning community service projects with local organizations
- Manages volunteer sign-up and project assignments
Drawing
- Collects prize donations from the Duke Basketball programs and local businesses
- Coordinates drawing ticket sales
- Hosts the prize drawing during Campout
- Proceeds from this year's drawing will be donated to the Emily Krzyzewski Family Life Center,
Logistics:
Food and Entertainment
- Organizes campout activities (DJs, karaoke, basketball shooting tournament, and more)
- Collects donations from local businesses for door prizes and silent auction items
- Organizes food donations and professional food vendors
- Collects student vendor applications and presents them to the Committee
Waste Management
- Manages all trash and recyling matters throughout Campout
Safety
- Manages RV rodeo, security, and happy friendly safety squad
T-shirts
- Solicits Campout t-shirt designs and presents them to the Committee
- Orders and manages distribution of t-shirts

The Basketball Committee listserve is a sympa mailing list that distributes e-mail to the accounts of all subscribed users. GPSC Basketball Committee members use this process to distribute a variety of information. The list manager can be reached at https://lists.duke.edu/sympa/info/basketball-cmte.
