This committee considers Duke's policy on socially responsible investing and hears requests for divestment. Its charge includes monitoring trends and activities in investment responsibility that have an impact on educational institutional investors, conducting research, updating Duke's files on companies and providing analysis as requested, and making recommendations to the President on how to vote proxies when the committee believes proxies should be voted outside the standard protocol of "economic interest",whether to sponsor shareholder resolutions, whether to correspond with the management of corporations in which the University holds an identifiable equity position, when to divest, and any new issues. Meets on call.

On March 1st, President Brodhead outlined Duke's Response to Economic Downturn.
Duke University has proven to be a university with an exceptional community: a strong sense of commitment, an identification to the university's values and spirit, an athmosphere of collaboration and support. I've been enthusiastic to join the community and immediately felt part of it. I have rarely encountered such dedication to excellence, and such a tremendous effort to address the individualized needs of its students, faculty and staff. As such, I feel a strong desire to give back to the university in serving on a committee where I could make best use of my past experiences. I believe that by doing so, I can support the university in its efforts to constantly reach for higher standards, but also to keep that very special commitment to the members of its community alive.
I have been a very active alumni of my undergraduate institution, the University of Monaco, serving as mentor in the university's mentorship society and as guest lecturer on topics regarding careers in the financial industry. Since leaving the university, I have also been placing several of the university's students in internship positions in investment banking.
